Reading the World | قراءة العالم is a bilingual (English/Arabic) podcast. I started it to carry classroom and research questions into a more open, public conversation. Each episode takes up a concept—or a small cluster of texts—and asks how reading, understood as a method rather than a mere skill, can illuminate culture, translation, and the making of meaning.
This is not a lecture series. The show is structured as a conversation: careful but accessible, attentive to nuance, and paced to give ideas room to develop. Episodes move between themes such as reading practices, translation, narrative, and the university, and often include reading prompts, brief bibliographies, and links for further exploration.
The podcast is hosted on Buzzsprout and is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and via RSS. I also publish show notes and selected transcripts here so listeners can revisit key passages, cite material, or bring an episode into teaching and research. Part of the aim is practical: to make the conversation searchable—and useful beyond the moment of listening.
If you have ideas for future episodes, or a topic you’d like to hear taken up, please reach out via the Contact page. I also welcome invitations for interviews and collaborations with other podcasts and platforms. Thank you for listening.
